Just Say No, Kids!

Iowa Stage Theatre Company brings the uproarious musical comedy Reefer Madness to the stage in Des Moines, at the very aptly named Stoner Theater! Inspired by the original 1936 public service announcement film of the same name, Kevin Murphy and Dan Studney's hilarious musical, originally premiered in 1998, takes a satirical view on the public mass hysteria arising from "nice kids" falling victim to the pull of marijuana, leading them down a path of devilish jazz music and all-out hedonism!

What is the Story?

It's the 1930s and after discovering the "devil's weed" marijuana, Jimmy transforms from a stand-up kid in a stand-up family into a fiend on a path of destruction! He disrespects his parents, steals from the box meant for the poor, is nasty to innocent puppies and - shock horror -  even tries to French-kiss his own girlfriend! Can he be saved??
